By accessing or using TypeFromPDF ("the Service", "we", "us", "our") at typefrompdf.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and TypeFromPDF. We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify users of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above.
02 Description of Service
TypeFromPDF is a web-based typing practice tool that allows users to upload PDF documents and practice typing over the extracted text, as well as practice typing in 18 programming languages using built-in code samples or user-provided code.
Key technical characteristics of the Service:
- PDF files are processed entirely within your web browser using JavaScript. They are never uploaded to or stored on any TypeFromPDF server.
- User account data (name, email, hashed password, plan status, and usage counts) is stored in your browser's localStorage, not on a remote database.
- Typing statistics are computed locally and are not transmitted to any server.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with or without notice.
03 User Accounts
You may use the Service as a guest (limited to 2 PDFs per browser session) or by creating a free account. Account information is stored in your browser's localStorage and is specific to the device and browser you use.
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- All activities that occur under your account.
- Ensuring that any information you provide is accurate and truthful.
Because account data is stored in localStorage rather than on our servers, we cannot recover accounts if you clear your browser data. You must not share your account with other people.
04 Subscription Plans & Access
TypeFromPDF offers the following plans:
- Free Plan ($0): 3 PDF uploads per month, 5 coding languages, paste-your-own-code feature.
- Student Plan ($79/year): All premium features at a discounted rate. Requires a valid .edu email address at checkout. Subject to verification.
- Monthly Plan ($17/month): Unlimited PDF uploads, all 18 coding languages, code file uploads, priority support.
- Yearly Plan ($180/year): All Monthly Plan features at an effective rate of $15/month.
Subscription features are enforced locally in your browser. Paid plan status will be updated in your browser account upon successful payment confirmation.
05 Payments & Billing
All payments are processed by Paddle (paddle.com), who acts as the Merchant of Record for all TypeFromPDF transactions. By making a purchase, you also agree to Paddle's terms of service and privacy policy. TypeFromPDF never directly handles or stores your payment card information.
Subscription fees are charged in advance — monthly or yearly depending on your chosen plan. Prices are displayed in USD. Local taxes (VAT, GST, etc.) may be added at checkout based on your location and are handled automatically by Paddle.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You may manage, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your subscription at any time through the Paddle Customer Portal or by emailing support@typefrompdf.com.
We will send a reminder email before annual renewals. Annual subscriptions renewed within 14 days of the renewal date may be eligible for a refund — contact us within that window.
06 Refunds & Cancellation
We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason within 14 calendar days of payment, contact us at support@typefrompdf.com and we will issue a full refund with no questions asked.
To cancel a subscription, email us at support@typefrompdf.com. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain access to paid features until then. After 14 days from purchase, refunds are not guaranteed.
07 Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Upload PDF files containing illegal, harmful, or copyright-infringing content with the intent to circumvent copyright protections.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or extract source code or data from the Service.
- Attempt to circumvent subscription limits or access controls.
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Service.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
08 Intellectual Property
The TypeFromPDF website, including its design, code, text, graphics, and other content created by us, is owned by TypeFromPDF and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without express written permission.
You retain full ownership of any PDF documents or code you upload or paste into the Service. We claim no rights over your content. Because your files are never stored on our servers, we have no access to them after you close your browser tab.
The pre-written code samples included in the Service for typing practice are provided for educational use within the Service only.
09 Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Key privacy facts: We do not store your PDF files. We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising cookies. Your account information is stored in your own browser's localStorage.
10 Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
- PDF text extraction will be complete or accurate for all PDF types (scanned or image-based PDFs may not work).
- The Service will meet your specific requirements.
Your use of the Service is at your sole risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of implied warranties, so these exclusions may not apply to you.
11 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TypeFromPDF and its owners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of business.
Our total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.
12 Third-Party Services
The Service uses the following third-party services:
- Google Fonts — for web typography (Inter and JetBrains Mono fonts).
- Paddle (paddle.com) — for payment processing and subscription management. Subject to their own privacy policy and terms of service.
- Cloudflare CDN — for loading the PDF.js library used to parse your PDF files in-browser.
We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services. Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience and do not constitute endorsement.
13 Changes to the Service and Terms
We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service, or any part of it, at any time. We also reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes your binding acceptance of such changes.
14 Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of India.
Before pursuing formal legal action, you agree to contact us at support@typefrompdf.com and give us 30 days to attempt to resolve any dispute informally.
